• Centralized Backup Management: AWS Backup provided a single pane of glass to manage backups across various AWS services, including EC2. This simplified the backup process and ensured consistent policies across the organization.
• Automated Backup Scheduling: Customer P defined backup policies to automate the creation of backups for their EC2 instances at regular intervals. This ensured that backups were consistently taken without manual intervention, reducing the risk of human error.

o    Backup Policy Details: The standard backup policy includes daily backups every day with retention of 7 days and 1 full back up every 30 days.

• Secure Backup Storage: AWS Backup empowers copy backups across Regions for even greater resilience, which offers highly durable and available storage for backups. Customer P also utilized AWS Backup Vault Lock to make their backups immutable, preventing them from being deleted or modified, even in the event of a ransomware attack. This ensured the integrity and availability of their recovery points.
• Rapid Recovery: In the event of a ransomware attack, Customer P can quickly restore their EC2 instances from the secure backups stored in the AWS Backup Vault. This minimizes downtime and ensures business continuity.

• Enhanced Ransomware Protection: The immutable backups (Vault Lock) are used to protect their data for period based on their company policy to prevent any change or modification during the ransomware / cyberattack in Indonesia and rapid recovery capabilities of AWS Backup significantly reduced the risk of data loss and downtime due to ransomware attacks.
  This will increase their Data reliability up to 100% since they don’t have an immutable backup before
• Improved Recovery Time: AWS Backup enabled Customer P to quickly restore their EC2 instances within 15 minute per machine (parallel), significantly reduced up to 100% and meet their Recovery Time Objective (RTO) compared to nothing (customer doesn’t have a backup anywhere) and addressing customer Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and minimizing data loss by leveraging scheduled backup.
• Reduced Operational Complexity: Centralized management and automation simplified the backup process, freeing up IT resources to focus on other critical tasks.
• Cost Optimization: Efficient backup and storage management helped optimize costs compared to on-premise or local backup.
• Increased Compliance: Automated and centralized backups helped Customer P meet their data protection and compliance requirements.
